Most of the websites have a search box to search within their sites. But what if its not there ? How to search within a site without using search boxes ? You can do this with Google Chrome. In one of my previous post [ How to search faster in Google ] i told you how to filter Google search results from a particular site or domain. This tip is an extension of those tricks and uses the same Google search filter techniques. So lets see how to do this :-)
  • Open Google Chrome
  • Right Click on address bar and select edit search engines
  • In the window under the Other Search engines area fill the following
  • In the Add a search engine text box type a site
  • In the Keyword text box fill sas . This keyword is used to start the search. You can use any keyword you like
  • Fill the Url text box with the following code and you are done !!
javascript:void(location.href='http://www.google.com/search?q=%s&domains='+location.hostname+'&sitesearch='+location.hostname)

To search inside a site, open the website and in the address bar type keyword<->space<-> Search term

For example if you want to search webdesigning inside www.technicate.in
  • Open www.technicate.in
  • In the address bar type sas webdesigning
Note : sas is the keyword i used while setting up the search engine. If you have used another keyword use that keyword instead of sas.

We have a Video Demo for you :-) Watch this !!!
