Most of the websites have a search box to search within their sites. But what if its not there ? How to search within a site without using search boxes ? You can do this with Google Chrome. In one of my previous post [ How to search faster in Google ] i told you how to filter Google search results from a particular site or domain. This tip is an extension of those tricks and uses the same Google search filter techniques. So lets see how to do this :-)
  • Open Google Chrome
  • Right Click on address bar and select edit search engines
  • In the window under the Other Search engines area fill the following
  • In the Add a search engine text box type a site
  • In the Keyword text box fill sas . This keyword is used to start the search. You can use any keyword you like
  • Fill the Url text box with the following code and you are done !!
javascript:void(location.href='http://www.google.com/search?q=%s&domains='+location.hostname+'&sitesearch='+location.hostname)

To search inside a site, open the website and in the address bar type keyword<->space<-> Search term

For example if you want to search webdesigning inside www.technicate.in
  • Open www.technicate.in
  • In the address bar type sas webdesigning
Note : sas is the keyword i used while setting up the search engine. If you have used another keyword use that keyword instead of sas.

We have a Video Demo for you :-) Watch this !!!

Like many of you, Google Chrome is my favorite web browser. It is simple and faster than other browsers. But while opening PDF files chrome is the not that good. Most of the time PDF files won't load in chrome.  Even if it does it will take much time. I have seen my friends using other browsers when they want to open a PDF file. Many of you might have felt this problem. The reason for this delay is chrome's in built PDF viewer.Unlike other browsers chrome uses its own in built PDF viewer for opening PDF files. So how to fix this ? Let's see!

For this fix to work you need Adobe acrobat reader. If you don't have Download it here
  • Open Google Chrome
  • In the address bar type chrome://plugins
  • Scroll down and disable chrome PDF Viewer
  • Enable Adobe PDF Plug-In
You are done :-) Now try opening your PDF files. You will find PDF files opening much faster than before.
